This is a CR production highlight which we thought it would be fun to share along with some #backstage fun facts about this spectacular show...
CAVEAT: It's the parts the public DO NOT see that can make or break a successful #cirque production. That's why the price of a show is the price (and not less) because of all the things that go unseen which can determine a successful execution vs a complete flop.
Here were some of the critical "unseens"...
- The bill to make the tent dress fire retardant in alignment with the convention center policies was in the multiple thousands of dollars.
- One of the performers suffered a medical challenge the day before the show and we had to expediently create a viable Plan B which was ready to go just in case. The issue ended up being minor and ultimately the show was executed as originally planned BUT safety first, always!
- The upgrade on our insurance certificate alone for this show was worth a kidney. {Kidding but not}
- Due to a squeezed rehearsal slot, later on that day the entire team - IE all business partners, crew, and talent spent hours talking through / reviewing every element of the show flow with the key stage/ AV team leads so that everyone was solid.
- The sequins on the costumes took hundreds of woman-hours to painstakingly fasten to each accessory and hundreds more of "drying" time.
- We didn't keep adding to the client bill after the fact when unaccounted for costs came out of nowhere. **This was because we had mutual respect and communication between us in that we WANTED to ensure everything was as we promised. We don't think we would have had this attitude if we felt squeezed/disrespected / or taken advantage of. This baseline of a constructive business relationship is the ULTIMATE "unseen" because each party will go above and beyond for the other. It's absolutely magical.**
- We believe that when hiring a reputable supplier (of any kind) the unseens are just as important as the exterior optics. You can't have a safe / solid / spectacular show without both (or do so at your peril!)
- This show went on to win #awards and we were so grateful for the opportunity to captivate, inspire, and ELEVATE the event. What a privilege to work with this wonderful client!
